Tonj Civil Hospital received one medical doctor and one midwife from Warrap State ministry of health with the promise of a surgeon.
Nhial Tong headed a team from the state health ministry that spent six days in Tonj. He told Don Bosco FM that the delegation received a great welcome from the Commissioner of Tonj South County.Dr. Tong said a surgeon will join the new staff in Tonj after two weeks from Kwajok.
He urged the patients to come in the morning hours to receive better treatment.
Midwife Rahap K. is a Kenyan national assigned by the United Nations Population Fund to Tonj Hospital. She said that the facility lacks drugs and basic equipment.
She added that Tonj’s referral hospital is several hours away in Wau.
Ms. Rahap said if the team makes the hospital theatre operational, health care services will improve.
Ms. Rahap said she will be handling reproductive health services at Tonj Civil Hospital.
