Eastern Equatoria State Governor has called on the Buya community to cooperate with the government to bring peace and security through community policing of Camp 15, a hot spot in Budi County.

Louis Lobong Lojore made the appeal on Saturday while addressing the Buya community at Camp 15, Emmanuel Radio reported.

He added that top government officials were in Loriok with security forces to identify and arrest criminals who were on the run.

Mr. Lobong warned civilians to keep guns out of town.

He said those who allow criminals to store guns at their homes will also face the law.

He called on all civilians who fled Loriok in early August to return home and start living in peace.

The governor said peace and security can be achieved when the government and the community work together.

The Buya community and the army had lived in conflict since late July following a dispute between a civilian and a soldier over a chair at a drinking joint.

A soldier and a civilian were killed in the incident.

The conflict escalated when two vehicles were shot at outside Camp 15.

Two Ugandan nationals were killed and two others persons injured.

In another development, local MPs collected some 40 cows that were raided in the region and returned them to the owners.
