The government of South Sudan has denied charges that it is supporting the Nuba Mountains rebels with weapons and logistics.

The Sudanese government has filed a complaint with the UN Security Council against South Sudan for inciting violence and instability in Nuba Mountains.

GoSS spokesperson Barnaba Marial Benjamin told SCR News that Khartoum’s allegations are false and unfounded.

He added that Sudan is accusing the South to cover up for its human right violations in South Kordofan.

He added that Khartoum failed to implement the CPA provisions for South Kordofan and Blue Nile states and people revolted.

Dr. Marial said South Sudan will not have to defend itself at the UN Security Council because the government is not involved in the on-going violence in South Kordofan.

He added that Khartoum’s accusations are a smokescreen to hide its killing of civilians in South Kordofan.

War started in South Kordofan at the beginning of June when the government wanted to disarm local forces that served with the SPLA during the civil war.
