Eastern Equatoria state residents have changed over 70 million Sudanese pounds into the new currency up to last week.

Charles Odwar Okech, who chairs the state currency exchange committee, told the press that the 70 million were exchanged in all counties of the state, Emmanuel Radio reported.

He explained that the currency exchange team experienced many logistic challenges but the SPLA assisted them with a helicopter that took the teams to hard-to-reach areas including Narus, Lotimor and Nyangachor, near the Ethiopia border.

Mr. Odwar said insecurity is hampering the operations of money change in Imatong and Camp 15.

He added that the team is already in Budy County.

Mr. Odwar said that there were some difficulties between the civil population and some military who were providing security to the exchange teams.

He added that the military that disturbed the civilians were transferred and replaced by a well disciplined group.
