The SPLA has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the US military confirming the existing technical support it receives.

The MoU was signed today at the SPLA HQ during the two-day visit of General Carter Ham who heads of the United States Africa Command to Juba.

The visit meant to better understand South Sudan’s strategy to increase internal security and military cooperation between the two states.

SPLA Spokesman Col. Philip Aguer told SCR News that the Africa Command will assist the SPLA in the process to become a conventional national army.

He said the US cooperation will focus on training, disarmament and demobilization and reintegration, and capacity building.
