South Sudan Red Cross has trained 20 volunteers from Yei on first aid skills and techniques to respond to emergency situations.

Red Cross Emergency Preparedness Response Coordinator for South Sudan Taban Sabri told Radio Easter that is very important that the population gets capacity building on first aid to handle emergency cases that may arise across the region.

He said the training is equipping volunteers across the ten states of South Sudan with humanitarian values and safer access to respond to all kinds of emergencies and other isolated cases such as accidents especially in areas prone to tribal clashes.

Mr. Taban urged the participants to use the skills obtained during the one-week training to bring about positive change in their various localities.

The 20 volunteers were introduced to basics of first aid intervention, including management of bleeding and of fractures.

The training that started on Monday concludes tomorrow.
