MICROFINANCE GROUP SUPPORTS 110 WOMEN

A microfinance group has given out loans to 110 women who are engaged in small businesses in Juba.

Samuel Smilus Abraham, Manna Microfinance Program Coordinator, told SCR News that the loans are part of an alleviation project for poor people to do small businesses or expand their businesses.

He said the program gives financial assistance to beneficiaries to improve their quality of live.

Mr. Smilus explained that the 110 beneficiaries who received the loans today at All Saints Cathedral in Juba are now classified into twelve groups each receiving 500 South Sudanese Pounds.

He added that more loans will be given based on the beneficiaries’ needs after they repay their credits in five months time.

Beneficiary Rose Onesimo Lado sells oil, charcoal and some handcraft works in Munuki.

She said the 300 pounds she received will help her expand her business by introducing new product.

Rebecca Agwir from Lologo, sells vegetables and local dried fish to support her children.

She thanked the Church for the help they offer to women of South Sudan who are still suffering.

Manna Micro Finance was founded by British Foundation International with the Anglican International Communion’s support in partnership with Episcopal Church of Sudan.
