The catholic diocese of Rumbek is finalizing preparations to hold a Memorial mass for late bishop Ceasar Mazzolari marking 40 days of his death on Saturday.
Bishop Rudolf Deng Majak of Wau is already in Rumbek for the celebration. He told Good News Radio that he has been looking forward to the memorial mass for Bishop Mazzolari in order to give thanks to God for the great service he offered to the diocese of Rumbek and also to parts of the diocese of Wau during the war.He remembers Bishop Mazzolari as a dynamic and holy man who worked far and wide and a great pastor with wonderful effects in his ministry.
Bishop Deng said the Memorial Mass is an act of gratitude and thanksgiving for Bishop Mazzolari’s ministry to sustain the faith during the war.
He added that the service will also be an occasion to pray for a new bishop for Rumbek.
Bishop Deng invited the faithful to remember that the legacy of the Bishop Mazzolari lives amongst his people.
The process to appoint a new Bishop for the Diocese of Rumbek is under way.
In the meantime, Fr Fernando Colombo is overseeing the activities of the diocese as its administrator.
