The National Legislative Assembly has summoned the ministers for defence and interior to appear before the house tomorrow to explain the current security crisis in Jonglei state.
On Thursday, over 120 people were killed in a revenge attack in Urur County of Jonglei State when Murle warriors attacked and destroyed eight Lou-Nuer villages in revenge for a Nuer attack in Pibor last June.
David Nialo Mayo, representing Budi County, tabled the motion summoning the ministers in charge of security to the parliament. He told SCR News that it was appalling for the new nation not to address issues of violence.
H said the government should declare a state of emergency in Jonglei State so that the hostile communities are disarmed and law and order restored.
Mr. Nialo added that the parliament has summoned the two ministers to brief the house about the situation and what is the government doing to ensure that retaliations and counter retaliations between Murle and Lou-Nuer communities stop once for all.
The UN had alerted one month ago that Murle youths were preparing a revenge attack against the Lou-Nuer.
