The youth in Eastern Equatoria requested the UN to avail them with opportunities of building their capacities so as to handle the jobs taken up by workers from other countries.

State youth secretary general, Okello Odongtto Lawiri, presented the request to the head of UNMISS, Hilde Johnson, in a meeting on Friday in Torit, Emmanuel Radio reported.

He reasoned that it would be better for the new nation to train technical personnel instead of importing its workforce from elsewhere.

Mr. Odongtto cited situations where even qualified South Sudanese were denied job opportunities with some nongovernmental organizations in favor of workers from neighbouring countries.

He said the practice of employing foreign personnel limits the building to the new nation because the money goes out of the country.

Mr. Odongtto suggested revision of employment trends to benefit nationals and provide opportunities for development of South Sudan.
