Women are being targeted and killed during night hours due to a conflict in Tonj East County of Warrap State that started two weeks ago and has cost many lives and a huge displacement.

Tonj South Police Chief Inspector Lieutenant Colonel Joseph Mayiei told Don Bosco FM that women are being killed during the night due to the conflict between the Akok and Luanykoth communities in East Tonj.

He said the two-week old conflict has already displaced many people.

Mr. Mayiei added that Tonj South and state authorities are trying to bring the conflict to an end.

He said the deputy governor Yel Mayardit was in Tonj yesterday to find out why the two communities have clashed and why it is so difficult to calm them down.

Mr. Mayiei urged cattle camp youth of Tonj South not to be involved in the conflict because it has already caused enough deaths and poverty.
