A number of caretaker ministers expressed optimism after the President of the Republic’s address to lawmakers and to the nation during the first joint sitting of the national legislature.

Health caretaker minister Luka Tombekana Monoja told SCR News that he was happy that President Salva Kiir Mayardit promised 100 new health centres to be constructed at payam level.

He said his ministry was planning to build 40 health centres.

Dr. Monoja explained that the new centres will increase health access by 50 per cent and will also allow the deployment of health personnel in remote areas.

He added that the minister of finance has to provide the funds to build those centres.

High education caretaker minister Joseph Ukel said the president elected education as the main priority of the new government.

He explained that president has assured that new schools will be built including the construction and the renovation of universities.

Mr. Ukel added that there is likelihood that the universities are going to open after accommodations and lectures halls are constructed.
