The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Wau described Mission Sunday as a celebration of solidarity among Catholic churches worldwide.
His Lordship Bishop Matthew Remijio Adam said Catholics and dioceses worldwide demonstrate their solidarity with the Pope by donating to the Holy Father to support missionaries carrying out their work in different parts of the world.
Bishop Remijio Adam added that Mission Sunday is also an opportunity for the Church to pray for missionaries and people suffering in conflict-affected areas and to support them through donations collected from churches and dioceses worldwide.
The Bishop noted that this year’s Mission Sunday marks the centenary of the founding of the global mission movement. He highlighted the theme chosen by the Pope for this year’s celebration, which focuses on unity, and urged bishops to share this message with the faithful around the world.
Bishop Remijio Adam encouraged the faithful to pray with one heart and one intention for missionaries around the world this coming Sunday, which marks Mission Sunday. He also appealed to the faithful to contribute whatever they can to support the mission of the Church.
The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Wau concluded by congratulating all the faithful and wishing them a blessed Mission Sunday, which is celebrated annually on the third Sunday of October.
