SSPDF Orders Agwellek Forces to Report for Assembly, Screening and Integration

The South Sudan People’s Defence Forces (SSPDF) has issued new orders directing all Agwellek forces under the overall command of Lt. Gen. Johnson Olony Thabo to report to designated assembly areas for screening and integration.

In an announcement issued by the SSPDF Spokesperson Maj. Gen. Lul Ruai Koang stated that all members of the Agwellek forces currently in Juba have been ordered to report to the Terekeka Assembly Area in Terekeka County, Central Equatoria State.

The reporting process is scheduled to begin on September 15, 2026, with the order taking immediate effect.

Agwellek forces currently deployed in Greater Tonj, Warrap State, have also been instructed to remain on standby for the arrival of a screening and integration committee from the SSPDF General Headquarters, Bilpam.

The same directive applies to Agwellek forces currently deployed at Nyakeen (Bakeer-Wen) in Twic East County, Jonglei State, according to the military statement.

The SSPDF said the orders specifically apply to all Agwellek forces operating under the overall command of Lt. Gen. Johnson Olony Thabo, Assistant Chief of Defence Forces for Disarmament and Mobilisation.

The directives are part of the process of screening and integrating forces into the national army, according to the announcement.
