The Governor of Eastern Equatoria State, Louis Lobong Lojore, has urged residents of Loriyok, Camp 15, in Kimotong Administrative Area to maintain security along the Torit–Kapoeta highway by working closely with security agencies to protect travelers and prevent criminal activities.
While traveling to Kapoeta on Thursday, Governor Lobong made a stop at Camp 15, where he addressed members of the community. He encouraged residents to continue living peacefully and harmoniously with neighboring communities, emphasizing that peaceful coexistence is vital for sustainable development.
His visit comes in the wake of a recent attack in which the Eastern Equatoria State Government’s Advisor on Special Programs, Hon. Epone Emmanuel Lolimo, sustained a gunshot wound to his thigh after unknown armed men ambushed his vehicle on 10 July 2026 at Nyibira Boma, Hiyala Payam, Torit County.
The Torit–Kapoeta road has experienced a series of security incidents in recent weeks, with repeated armed ambushes resulting in the loss of lives and destruction of property. These recurring attacks have heightened concerns over the safety of motorists and other road users traveling along the corridor.
