MTN South Sudan has launched a public mobile money donation platform to support healthcare services at Juba Teaching Hospital as part of its annual 21 Days of Y’ello Care campaign.

The initiative, unveiled on Monday during the launch of the campaign, will enable MTN customers, partners, staff, and members of the public to contribute directly to maternal and child healthcare programmes at South Sudan’s main referral hospital.

Speaking at the event, MTN South Sudan Chief Executive Officer, Mapula Bodibe, said the donation platform forms part of a broader effort to strengthen healthcare services and address critical challenges facing the hospital.

“Through the Y’ello Care Campaign, we are introducing a USSD MoMo donation platform that will allow stakeholders, communities, and our staff to contribute towards maternal health initiatives at Juba Teaching Hospital,” Bodibe said.

She noted that the interventions planned under the campaign are intended to create lasting benefits beyond the 21-day volunteer programme.

“These initiatives are designed not only to address immediate needs but also to leave a sustainable impact on the communities we serve.”

Bodibe emphasized that the success of the initiative depends on strong partnerships and thanked the Ministry of Health, the World Health Organization (WHO), UNICEF, and the management of Juba Teaching Hospital for their collaboration.

The CEO also commended MTN employees who will volunteer during the campaign, saying their dedication reflects the company’s commitment to creating meaningful change in communities.

Meanwhile, UNICEF Country Representative, Noala Skinner, welcomed the initiative and reaffirmed UNICEF’s commitment to supporting the Government of South Sudan in improving child and maternal health outcomes.

“MTN’s support plays an important role in expanding digital access, enabling health messaging, improving access to health services, and strengthening community engagement,” Skinner said.

She stated that the initiative aligns with UNICEF’s efforts to support the Ministry of Health in promoting health awareness among mothers, caregivers, and communities.

“This demonstrates how innovation and partnerships can transform lives and improve health outcomes,” she added.

Skinner encouraged development partners and government institutions to strengthen collaboration and ensure that vulnerable families continue to receive essential health services.

Under the donation programme, MTN customers can contribute by dialing *200*4#, entering the merchant code 501356, selecting the Y’ello Care option, and specifying the amount they wish to donate. MTN said the service is free of charge, and donors will only be debited for the amount they choose to contribute.

Funds raised through the campaign will support healthcare interventions at Juba Teaching Hospital, particularly in maternal and child health services.

The 21 Days of Y’ello Care Campaign is MTN Group’s flagship employee volunteerism initiative, implemented annually across its operations in Africa to address community development challenges.
