The government of Southern Sudan has welcomed the framework agreement signed by the SPLM-North and the Government of Khartoum to end violence in Southern Kordofan.
GoSS vice-president Riek Machar Teny told reporters when he arrived in Juba this morning that his government supports the agreement because it is a roadmap to political stability in the new state of North Sudan.He called upon the Khartoum government to keep the agreement in order to bring peace and stability to Southern Kordofan and Blue Nile.
The Government of Sudan and SPLM-North signed yesterday in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, a Framework Agreement on Political Partnership and Political and Security Arrangements in Blue Nile and Southern Kordofan States.
The parties will form two joint committees to deal with security and political issues to implement CPA provisions on the two states.
Northern soldiers who fought for the south during the civil war are to be either integrated into the Sudan Armed Forces or disarmed.
