Two hundred and seventeen Young Christian Students (YCS) were enrolled yesterday during a ceremony at Yei’s Christ the King Church by bishop Erkolano Lodu Tombe.
Yei Youth chaplain Fr. Alex Lodiong Sakor said the YCS movement is present in four schools in Yei County and it could expand to other schools.Fr. Lodiong urged the students to learn and maintain their cultural heritage.
He said that tribes were not mistakes but gifts from God.
The cleric added that the young people needed to be encouraged not to forget their roots and culture while learning new ways.
The 217 students hailed from four different secondary schools: Yei Day, St. Paul, Yei Girls and St. Joseph Lutaaya.
