The Electoral Appeal Committee has officially rejected the presidential bid of Deng Teng, citing his failure to meet key nomination requirements for the upcoming South Sudan Football Federation (SSFF) elections.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the committee explained that Teng did not secure the necessary support from at least four members of the South Sudan Football Association (SSFA), as required under the federation’s electoral regulations.

Additionally, he was found to lack sufficient prior experience in football administration within South Sudan.

Alongside Teng, Kamala John Nyeret was also disqualified from the race. The committee noted that Kamala was nominated by only one member, falling short of the minimum nomination threshold.

As a result, both candidates will be removed from the final list of contestants for the highly anticipated SSFF general elections, which are scheduled to take place on 15 August 2025.

However, the committee emphasized that its decision is not absolute.

“The decision is not final,” said the Committee Chairperson. “The affected individuals still have the right to file a further appeal, should they choose to do so.”
