A Catholic priest has called on Christians to value marriage and avoid divorce, urging couples to make well-considered decisions before committing to a lifelong union.

Speaking during an infant baptism ceremony at St. Peter and Paul Cathedral on Sunday, Fr. Jacob Odwa, the parish priest, stressed the importance of love, faith, and stability in marriage.

“Marriage is a relationship between a man and a woman for life. There is no divorce in true marriage. Before entering marriage, people should understand what it truly means. Let us be strong in our faith and our commitments.”

“A life without stability, like people moving around aimlessly, doesn’t help anyone. We must be grounded in what we do to get good results.”

Fr. Odwa encouraged Christians to enter the Church through baptism and remember that children are the natural result of a loving and committed marriage.

“We enter the Church through baptism. No one should deceive others by saying, ‘I brought you to the Church.’ Once you are baptized, other sacraments will follow. Children come from the love of marriage—they are its fruits.”
