The Catholic Bishop of El Obeid has urged the parts involved in heavy fighting in South Kordofan to cease fire immediately.
Bishop Michael Didi Adgum Mangoria said the war must end immediately.He added that there is great suffering among the people.
Bishop Didi called on the international community to do all it can to support a return to a negotiated peace settlement.
More than 60,000 people have been forced to flee from their homes by fighting in South Kordofan.
More than 70 percent of the population of Kadugli has fled as the city which is engulfed in heavy fighting including aerial bombardment.
The Catholic diocese of El Obeid comprises Kordofan and Darfur states.
