The state assembly of Central Equatoria today started its third session ahead of the declaration of the Republic of South Sudan on July 9.
Governor Clement Wani Konga welcomed the parliamentarians to resume their state duties and responsibilities after a recess.He added that the assembly has to deliberate on development issues in the state.
Speaker Naphatali Hassan highlighted some challenges facing the parliament leadership.
He said the 2011 budget does not meet the assembly’s needs and expectations.
The opening was attended by Archbishops Daniel Deng Bul and Paolino Lokudu Loro and Sheikh Juma Said of the Muslim community.
Archbishop Paolino Lokudu said that the Assembly was meeting in a very precious moment after the Easter celebrations.
He urged the MPs to build Central Equatoria not on tribal basis.
