The South Sudan Anti-Corruption needs power to prosecute in order to be effective.
Executive director Deng Deng Hoc Yai told SCR News that there will be drastic improvement if the Anti Corruption is granted powers to arrest and prosecute individuals allegedly involved in corrupt practices.Mr. Deng explained that the Anti-Corruption Commission is not interested in the power to prosecute for prestige but for effective operation.
He added that the Anti-Corruption Commission in Nigeria is prosecuting people who are involved in malpractices and this has enabled it to work efficiently.
Mr. Deng said prosecution of suspected criminals creates a corruption free environment because it instils fear and respect of public property among the civil servants.
