The president of the Republic has yet to sign the referendum laws that were passed last month by the National Assembly after hard negotiations between the SPLM and the NCP.
SCR News asked GoSS President Salva Kiir Mayardit if the three laws (referenda for Southern Sudan and Abyei and Popular Consultation in Blue Nile and South Kordofan) have been signed by Omar al-Bashir during a press conference this morning.Mr. Kiir said President al-Bashir has to sign yet the laws.
He added he raised the issued with vice-president Osman Taha when they met last Sunday in Juba.
Mr. Kiir said the delay is a cause of concern for the SPLM.
He added the laws should have been signed long ago and if they are not signed the SPLM wants to know why.
