The South Sudan army said it has no forces in two special areas in North Sudan.

SPLA’s denial is the answer to Khartoum’s demand that southern forces leave South Kordofan and Blue Nile until tomorrow.

SPLA spokesperson Colonel Philip Aguer Panyang told SCR news that the army has no troops in the two border states.

He added that the SPLA forces in the Joint Integrated Units are from the Nuba Mountains and Blue Nile State and not from South Sudan.

Mr. Aguer said the conflict in the two states has nothing to do with South Sudan because the areas belong to the north and should be solved by the popular consultation.

He said the SPLA has no right to tell the people of Nuba Mountains to come to South Sudan.

Analysts say SAF’s demands to the SPLA to remove its forces from the two special areas could trigger another border crisis between North and South Sudan.
