The minister of education in Jonglei state said that insecurity and poor infrastructures have stalled the education system in the state.

Steven Par Kuor told SCR News that places where insecurity was common, education was interrupted.

He cited Fangak County where students were unable to finish their secondary exams due to an attack by forces loyal to renegade George Athor.

Mr. Par added that during the rainy season accessibility to the countryside in almost impossible affecting the quality of education.

The minster said the new curriculum is challenging 40 percent of teachers who have an Arabic formation.

Mr. Par said the provision of a comprehensive training programme for teachers and the rehabilitation of schools especially in rural areas would contribute to a better education in Jonglei.
