Yei River County Cooperative Union, formerly known as Yei District Cooperative Union, got this morning a fresh start as it handed over its certificate of registration to the county authorities.
GoSS ministry of cooperatives issued the registration documents, Easter Radio reported.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, acting commissioner for cooperatives in the county Emmanuel Dusuman said the Coop Union collapsed during the civil war.
He added that the Union was revived in March and now it can operate legally.
Mr. Dusuman said there are eight registered cooperative unions in the County.
He urged the unregistered cooperatives to do so in order to become legal entities.
Yei Direct Cooperative Union was found in 1979.
It has a store, offices and one truck for transporting farmers’ produce to Yei town.
