Over forty patients screened for eye cataract at the ongoing Yirol Cataract Camp have already been operated upon.

Jeremiah Kayombo Mtweve, a clinical officer working with the Arkangelo Ali Association (or Triple A) based at Mary Immaculate Hospital in Mapuordit, told Good News Radio that the opticians have operated on 46 screened patients in two days.

He said that another cataract camp will take place in Rumbek between July and August.

Mr. Mtweve said it was difficult to disclose to some patients that they eyesight is beyond repair and will not be able to see again.

He explained that some permanently blinded do not accept the bad news well.

The cataract camp will conclude on June 3.
