The citizens of Upper Nile state in Malakal on Thursday morning protested against the occupation of Abyei.
A number of civil societies headed by the Union of Workers and political parties processed in Malakal shouting that Abyei √É’belongs to South Sudan beyond one hundred percent.’The acting Chairperson of Union of Workers, Abraham Sebit, in his message to the UNMIS described the invasion of Abyei as a crime against humanity and a true violation of the CPA.
Mr. Sebit asked the international community to put pressure on Khartoum for the immediate pull out of its troops from the region.
He added that the Abyei administration which was dissolved by President Omar al-Bashir should come to function again without conditions.
He asked UNMIS and international community to stop Khartoum from using military planes to kill innocent people in Abyei.
