A team that followed stolen cows from Tonj South County, Warrap State, to Cueibet County in Lakes state, returned yesterday after meeting authorities of Cueibet.

The incidence which claimed four lives and wounded one person took place last Sunday at Cueicok Boma in Tonj South County, Don Bosco FM reported.

The team was composed by Tonj South County Commissioner, Akech Tong, chief police inspector Joseph Mayei and other officials.

Commissioner Tong said the raiders were 22 in number and they wanted to revenge against the Agar community whose members killed three people from the Agok side in Lakes state.

The commissioner said nine raiders were arrested with the help of the Cueibet Commissioner and community leaders.

However, they did not find where the stolen cattle were kept.

He remarked that the other 13 thieves are still being searched for.

Mr. Tong said the community gave them 270 cows for compensation.

Chief police inspector Joseph Mayei urged the youth at the cattle camps to be calm and avoid retaliatory activities since the attack was not targeting them.

He applauded the authorities in Cueibet County for having arrested the thieves, saying it was good to overcome the intertribal clashes in South Sudan.
