Magwi farmers cited lack of seeds during the cultivation season and delayed rains as the major factors derailing local agriculture.

Cicilia Achan Oboya told SCR News that farmers have cultivated many crops as the rain destroys them in the process of growing.

She appealed to the government to provide tractors for people who do not have the capacity to dig large farms.

Mohamed Ibrahim, a returnee from Uganda, said the seeds reached farmers late and the unpredictable rainy season is a problem.

He added that farmers only cultivated one season during the year due to scarce rain in the second period.

Farmer Okot Lazarous Goudenso reiterated challenges facing farmers in Magwi including lack of tools and seeds.

He explained that rats destroy some of the crops like corns and others.

Farmers urged the government to provide tractors services to farmers in the County in order to cultivate big areas for massive agricultural production.
