Hundreds of residents of Eastern Equatoria state yesterday gathered at Freedom Square in Torit to celebrate SPLA Day.
State governor Louis Lobong Lojore described the day as historic for the armed forces, peace lovers, freedom fighters, and African warriors.Governor Lobong assured the people that the SPLM is keen to achieve the independence due on July 9.
The occasion was marked with various activities including a procession from the SPLA barracks.
The SPLA displayed their military mighty, a likely indication of the capability of the army to defend the new nation from any external aggression.
