A partnership of civil society groups organized a three-day workshop to reflect together with MPs, GoSS officials, academia, political parties, business community and civil societies on best practices to meet the challenges of federal governance.

SUnDE programme officer Zahara Said told SCR News that the conference aims at boosting the participants’ knowledge on the systems of governance including federalism and the Transitional Constitution of South Sudan.

Ms. Said added that the workshop will ensure that participants learn how to negotiate and dialogue to guarantee that it improves their participation in different systems of governance.

South Sudan is an emerging federal system and it needs measures to advance understanding and consensus around the contribution of federalism to sustain peace and development.

Sudanese Network for Democratic Elections (SuNDE), Forum of Federations and National Democratic Institute (NDI) are the partners behind the initiative.
