South Sudan Certificate of Secondary Education (CSE) national examination started on Monday across the country. The Schools in Torit County of Eastern Equatoria State joined the rest of the country in administering the national test.

In the statement during the ringing of the bell, the Director General for Quality Assurance in the state Ministry of General Education and Instruction Lokulang Lokudu Faustino said that they have registered new centres for examination including Alternative Secondary Education Centres across Eastern Equatoria State.

The minister said they witnessed an increment of 219 students compared to last year. The total number registered is 2,755 candidates.

We have registered new examination centres such as ACCEP for alternative secondary education programmes this year and we have four centres two in greater Kapoeta and two in greater Torit. This is an achievement because we can realize those who have dropped out to come up and we hope that they will do their best.

This year we have an increment of 219 candidates compared to last year so it is a good achievement, our statistics, in general, we have 2,755 candidates who are sitting this year’s examination, by gender 1,806 are female and 1669 males across the state.

The schools that are sitting this year, are 42 in number in six counties of Eastern Equatoria State including Lafon and Imehejek administrative area and then Kapoeta North County they would also struggle to come up next year.”

Faustino added that they have 39 examination centres compared to last year when there were just 29 examination centres in the whole state

“We have 39 sitting examination centres this year compared to last year when there were only 29, now when you see the statistics in comparison to last year, we have 2,536  candidates, 930 females and 1606 males.

“The results were 98%execellent and we hope that this year they will also do the same when we compare with this year we have registered 2,755 candidates,  1,086 are females while the rest are males and when you see the differences there is a difference of 219 candidates that rates to 80% compared to last year.”

The examination field monitor Martin Luther Lokudu stated that they rang the first bell for over 42 thousand candidates sitting for the national examination compared to last year which was 31 thousand.

“Today the bell is being rang for over 42 thousand candidates sitting for the national examination, it is so great this year, last year it was 31 thousand but this year has gone a bit high it is an honour for us who have come from Juba for reception and coordination with us from time to time, we wish the candidates success because they are the future of this nation.

The state minister for Education and Instruction in Eastern Equatoria State Lopeyok Samy Aparengole said that all centres in the state are ready for the national examination to start.

He revealed that Magwi County is leading in terms of the number of centres sitting for the examination followed by Torit County.

“On the 15 of these months we shall finish everything so the examination will be sent to Juba and in our state all centres are now ready and waiting for the examination.

“We are very glad about that, we used to advise us to at least commit the citizens of this state that is why our students from across the state are ready to sit for the exams for other counties like Kapoeta North they have their students sitting from Kapoeta South because we just reopen their schools,” he said.
