GOVERNMENT RESTRICTS GUNS IN TORIT TOWN

Eastern Equatoria state council of ministers has resolved to outlaw guns in Torit town. The resolution was reached at on May 5 2011, during the weekly council of ministers meeting at the office of the state governor.

Nartisio Manir Loluke, deputy governor, declared yesterday to a congregation at Our Lady of Assumption Church in Torit that the organized forces are not allowed to loiter with guns in the town.
Mr. Loluke said the council of ministers resolved that organized forces should not carry guns when not on duty, while at their homes and in the markets.
He said that bodyguards are also instructed to leave their guns at the work place.
Mr. Loluke said the restrictions follow recent events that culminated into killings of innocent people and wounding others.
Five people lost their lives last week due gunshots.
