Caritas Archdiocese of Juba has officially re-open its office since the Church based organization stopped its activities in 2021.
Speaking during the official opening of Caritas Archdiocese, Archbishop Stephen Ameyu Martin calls on partners to review the activities which Caritas Archdiocese of Juba were doing.
“There are two main pillars for the Church, one is the pastoral wing and social wing, in this social wing, many of the human problems are in, and I would like to invite you all our partners to review today about what we are doing in Juba or in South Sudan because some of these elements or objectives that the Caritas Archdiocese of Juba is taking on its solder are almost the same elsewhere with any NGOs.”
The metropolitan Archbishop of Juba Ameyu says, one of the most important objectives the Church and partners working on it is elevating poverty.
Ameyu adds that, without the help of social wing in the society, the poverty can’t be elevated from people.
He encourages Caritas Archdiocese and its partners to work together in order to elevate the human suffering in Juba and South Sudan at large.
The Auxiliary Bishop of Juba Archdiocese Santo Laku Pio who is also the board of directors at Caritas Archdiocese of Juba says it has been a setback for the Archdiocese for that important part of the Church remaining an operational.
“We are here this morning to reconstitute or for re-open Caritas Archdiocese of Juba again after a very long time of not operating in the midst of the looming humanitarian crisis affecting our people in the Country. For us it has been a setback all along such a very important part of the church remaining an-operational although we keep serving our people through the parishes.”
Bishop Laku states that Caritas Archdiocese caries a lot of responsibility of people which needs more support specially the influx of returnees and refugees from Sudan.
He adds that the system of the Church is more open to the needy because of the vocation and the natural setting.
He appeals to the humanitarian partners for more partnership cooperation with Caritas family and Caritas Archdiocese of Juba.
The director of Cartas Archdiocese of Juba Placido Popo explains that Caritas Archdiocese of Juba was created to carry out all the social activities as it receives its mission from Caritas South Sudan.
Popo says Caritas Archdiocese of Juba solidarity with the poor and committed to serve human person in love and dignity.
He says the main vision of Caritas Archdiocese of Juba is disadvantage community elevated to the level of peaceful development and self-reliance.
Caritas Archdiocese of Juba activities was closed since 2021 due to restructuring issues.
The speakers made these remarks during the official re-opening of Caritas Archdiocese of Juba on Wednesday Catholic Curia of Juba Archdiocese.
