New Finance Minister has promise to improve polices and performance of the Ministry

The new Minister of Finance and Planning has promised to eliminate the delay of civil servants salary, and the random issuing of cheque in the ministry of Finance and planning.

Doctor Bak Barnaba Chol who is appointed new minister of Finance and planning last week said, his ministry will eliminate all the bad habits and open a new doors of opportunities for all.

“There are things that we would have to automatically drop or eliminate on the process like the delay of salaries, nepotism in re-assignment within the ministry, random issuance of cheque, we will have to eliminate all these bad habits and open new doors of opportunities for all regardless of our tribes, we are citizens of this country.”

Bak believes that it is the right time for both government and citizens to work for economic transformation in South Sudan.

He added that he will work hand in hand to make sure that there is a change in the ministry of finance, promising to install suggestion box in his office for all complains.

“So I believe this is the right time for economic transformation, I’m here to join hands with you and all the relevant institutions in this country, independent experts and donors to bring about change in the ministry of finance and planning.

“If we unite and eliminate corruption, and equitably share our national resources, we can be one of the strongest economy,” the new finance minister says.

Minister Bak regretted lack of developing economic sectors in like agriculture, education, and empowering the security sectors.

“The major problems you see around is poverty, it’s because we did not focus on developing our economic sectors, we have not choose to allocate sufficient budgets to agriculture, to education, and empowering the security sectors.”

We cannot have voice in regional or international forums unless we are financially free, and we cannot protect our borders, if we don’t have a well feed army, “he adds.”

The minister called on South Sudanese to work together and fix the ongoing high rates of dollars and commodities in the markets.

He promised to do his best in pursuing new path to economic recovery and reform.

The minister was speaking during his welcoming celebration on Monday in Juba
