Catholic Bishop urges citizens to reflect on peace during Martyrs Day

The Catholic bishop of Yei Diocese, Alex Lodiong Sakor Eyobo has called on South Sudanese citizens to replicate the Martyrs who sacrificed themselves for the welfare of the country.

Addressing congregation on Sunday at Christ The King Parish, Bishop Alex urged Christians to used the Martyrs Day to reflect on the people who have sacrificed their lives for freedom and peace of South Sudan.

He called on the South Sudanese citizens to think about the fallen heroes and heroines and that they should be exemplary of sacrifice for peace.

“This Day makes us remember all those who have sacrifice their lives for the sake of peace and freedom of this nation,” Sakor stressed. 

According the bishop, anyone who have participated during the Referendum has also contributed greatly towards the freedom of this country.

The Prelate however questioned the existence and functionality of the said attained freedom in South Sudan.

“Let’s look deep inside our hearts and contemplate; is the freedom functioning or not functioning, Are South Sudanese free now or not?” Bishop Alex questioned.

Bishop Alex regretted that despite efforts put in place, freedom and peace is not realised by all people of this country.

He added that, “The Freedom is not seen in all the citizens because the leaders who are still alive have spoilt the freedom.”
