After spending three years in Sudan’s capital Khartoum, Doctor Lam Akol Ajawin, the Chairman of the National Democratic Movement (NDM), has returned to Juba, the capital of South Sudan.

Doctor Lam was received at the Juba International Airport by the Minister of Presidential Affairs, Doctor Barnaba Marial Benjamin.

Addressing the media shortly after landing, Doctor Lam expressed his commitment to pushing for the completion and implementation of the pending tasks in the Peace agreement.

“I have come in order to continue the road that we started on 12th September 2018. The peace process that we voluntarily agreed that we should do,” Ajawin expressed.

Despite his physical absence in Juba for the last three years, Lam revealed that he has been actively attending and taking part in the implementation of the Revitalized Peace Agreement.

He said, “I have not been far from it [Peace Agreement]. Maybe physically, I was not there but I was taking part in the process.”

Lam’s return is seen as a significant step towards moving the country forward, as he expresses readiness to contribute to the forthcoming general elections.

Doctor Lam Akol is a prominent South Sudanese politician and his presence is expected to bring renewed energy and focus to the political landscape in South Sudan.

In 2016, he resigned as the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, citing the failure of the peace deal at that time.

However, he has remained actively involved in political affairs and has now returned to Juba to continue his efforts toward peace and progress in the country.
