WESTERN EQUATORIA AND LAKES GOVERNORS BROKER TRUCE FOR MAPUORDIT CLASHES

The governors of Western Equatoria and Lakes states met yesterday to find a solution to the conflict between communities from Mvolo and West Yirol Counties that started over one month ago.

The conflict is said to have displaced more than 50 thousand people in Mvolo and Mapuordit payams plus an unknown number of mortal victims.

Yesterday, governors Chol Tong Mayay Jang and Bangassi Joseph Mario Bakosoro arrived by helicopter in Mapuordit with UN officials and security personnel for a closed meeting at the local primary school.

The two governors latter announced that there will be an immediate truce between Jur and Dinka Atuot communities adding that security personnel wouldl be stationed at strategic border areas.

The leadres also agreed that IDPs should return home after receiving a three-month food supply.
