PETRONAS RESUMES SCHOOL PROGRAMMES

The Malaysian Oil gigant today resumed it programmes for school children in Juba.

PETRONAS started the programme in 2006 allowing primary school kids across Juba town to access the company’s mobile library in order to improve pupil’s standards.

The oil company today distributed 2,500 school bags and stationary sets to pupils from Juba One Girls, Atlabara and Komoyangi primary schools.

Datuk Abdallah Kerim, PETRONAS vice president for development and production, said the company’s Back to School programme aims at benefiting more than 2,000 school children in the three schools.

Abdallah said PETRONAS is looking forward to contribute and foster good relations and long term business growth.

He added that PETRONAS is committed to the wellbeing of people within its areas of operations.

David Loro Jubek, GoSS undersecretary in the ministry of energy and mining, appreciated the offer saying that the chosen schools were in bad shape and need such support, adding that the offer has gone into the right direction.

The headmistress of Atlabara appreciated the offer and asked for considerations in the issue of girl child education saying that girls are the last in class and the first to drop out.

The celebration was done at Juba One Girls primary school this morning.
