The Director General in the State Ministry of Trade and Industry in Eastern Equatoria is calling for implementation of cheap and affordable prices for local goods or products in the state.
The Director General Stephen Ihude Oduho urges Agribusiness and trade sectors that operate in Torit town to reverse prices of their products to be competitive with products coming from outside the country.
//products made here are supposed to be locally kept, they are supposed to be cheap and affordable because you don’t incur a lot of transportation cost, a lot of custom clearance they are not there. So please, your product pricing has to reverse to be competitive with products that come from outside. There is no reason why somebody will buy your product if they are the same product with the other one and the same quality, so you have to compete in prices and in quality//
Ihude promise that, the Ministry will work hard to ensure that the local made products are recognized by the bureau of standard.
//so we will work to ensure that these products are recognized by the bureau of standard so that they can also be sold to Juba. These products should also reach Juba, to Kapoeta and all the shops. There are three value added products, there are things that are already entered the market next time around we need a lot products to be added to the market//
The speaker made the remarks on Wednesday during the graduation of 74 women in the Agribusiness and trade sectors in Torit.
