Some callers in Torit Town during a discussion on Radio Emmanuel 89 FM calls for effort sensitize and educate people to put an end of sexual exploitation and abuse. Radio Emmanuel Reported

One of the callers who only identified himself as Luka, says ignorance is highly contributing to cases of sexual exploitation in the community and most people are blind folded with money which makes them not to realize that they are being sexually exploited

//you see the issue of the sexual abuse is happening now in the villages even in town, people should take care, it needs sensitization, if people are not sensitize people will not know, our community in South Sudan is still ignorant and people like money too much, someone is given little money immediately you accept everything, that is why I say the community is to be sensitize more especially the teenagers, the girls should be sensitize to avoid such kind of things//

Another caller, Mama Grace says people should report cases of sexual immorality such that perpetrators are brought to book

//the ministry of education has a firm rule, every teacher who got involved in such acts, will be followed and face the law, even for us the business, or others departments if something happened and we report, the person will be brought before the law, secondly you are going to do your business to support your home and the family but not for evil deeds, we should pay attention to the children we have, anything new they come with, you need to ask them who gave you?//

Meanwhile teacher Joseph urges Authority to disqualify anyone involve in sexual exploitation from respective profession because it is against the law.

//because of the poverty, it force someone to get something, that is what we call something for something, but this is not the case but that is how the evil works with people, but as a kind person if kindly in need to give something your friend or to your fellow, you need to give with all your heart but you should not demand anything out of it, because when you demand something out of it, this is something which is contrary and it is against the law. I thing if such kind of people are being identified, these people are to be confiscated from their profession like if a teacher commit such kind of thing, that person has to be taken out of that profession//

The callers made the comments during South Sudan We Want- Betna program supported by Foundation Caritas Luxembourg.
