A SPLM leader accused the president of the republic of plotting against the South Sudan government and said its party suspended post-referendum talks with the NCP.

Secretary General Pagan Amum told the press in Khartoum today that the SPLM got details of a NCP plan to overthrow GoSS before July, Reuters reported.

He said Omar Hassan al-Bashir was overseeing the plot himself.

Mr. Amum added that the NCP created, trained, supplied and armed militia groups in south Sudan to destabilise and overthrow the government before the independence.

He added that the SPLM suspended negotiations with the NCP until Khartoum stops its conspiracy or the UN Security Council investigates the allegations and takes appropriate measures.

Mr. Amum’s statements came after a militia group attacked Malakal early in the morning following a flare-up of militia clashes in Greater Upper Nile.
