Religious authorities called for a national reconciliation and expressed concern about increase of violence in the country.
The Sudan Council of Churches (SCC) promoted a two-day meeting to discuss issues affecting Sudan and southern Sudan in general and the role of the Church.SCC Secretary General Ramadan Chan told Bakhita Radio that the Churches are very concerned about issues of violence, stranded returned, popular consultations in Nuba Mountains and Blue, Abyei referendum and border demarcation.
Rev. Chan said the Church leaders called for national healing and reconciliation at all levels to minimize the tension among the communities.
Rev. Chan called on all the stakeholders including politicians and the international community to work for the consolidation of peace across the entire country.
The two days forum concluded yesterday in Juba.
