The Eastern Equatoria Police Commissioner died suddenly on Sunday in Khartoum due to high blood pressure.
Late Major General Juma Hassan Ali went to Khartoum to attend his father’s burial, Emmanuel Radio reported.Eastern Equatoria information minister Nasike Allan Lochul presented condolences to the bereaved family during a press conference yesterday.
She said the state formed a team to receive the body of the deceased today at Juba Airport.
Ms. Nasike added that Mr. Hassan’s family will make arrangements for his burial either in Juba or at the ancestral home in Central Equatoria.
She said the Eastern Equatoria government is organizing a funeral gathering at the house of Mr. Hassan to comfort the family and pray for the deceased.
Ms. Nasike stresses that the police commissioner died at a critical time when the state needed him most to keep security and maintain peace ahead of the independence.
Eastern Equatoria State flags have been flown at half-mast to pay tribute to the late police chief.
