Nine political parties declared this morning their withdrawal from the committee that is reviewing the Interim Constitution ahead of the independence.
UDSF chairman David Dechan read a joint press release saying the opposition parties withdrew from the committee because the SPLM violated some rules during the last working session, Bakhita Radio reported.Mr. Dechan explained that decisions should be reached by consensus but the SPLM imposed their view by vote because they are in majority.
The parties said they formed a joint opposition platform to dialogue with the SPLM over the issues of constitutional review.
They added that if dialogues fails the international community and especially the USA special envoy to the Sudan should arbitrate between the SPLM and the other parties.
The nine political parties that left the constitutional review committee are UDF, USSP, SLP, SPLM-DC, CPS, UDSF, SSDF, SDA and NUDF.
