The latest outbreak of violence that began Sunday some 20 kilometres north of Abyei town has displaced tens of thousands.
The international medical humanitarian organization MŽdecins Sans Frontires (MSF) said in a press release that since Thursday residents fled the town of Abyei, leaving it mostly empty.Although the situation remained relatively calm yesterday, a MSF team reported that tensions remain high in Abyei town and surroundings.
The medical aid group said it received 21 wounded patients in Agok Hospital on Wednesday and all sustained gunshot wounds.
