Lakes State Minister of Finance said that the 2011 budget is designed to fulfill the promises the government made during the election campaign.
Pur Chiengan Dakbai was addressing the press at his office on Wednesday, one day after he presented the 2011 budget to Lakes State Legislative Assembly.
He stated that the new budget has been made to meet the needs of Lakes State communities, citing the provision of water and health services among the priorities the budget has considered.
The Minister revealed that the budget for security still remains the highest item, followed by education which will have teachers’ salaries paid in full and 300 more teachers recruited.
Mr. Pur said that the Government of Lakes State is still using last year’s budget, explaining that this is what the law stipulates.
He promised to give arrears to civil servants after the new budget is adopted, adding that this will include operational costs and individuals who have been promoted.
