A specialist has urged the education authorities to sort out disparity in money allocation to cover for salaries and costs in the different states of South Sudan.

UNESCO consultant for education planning Peter Buckland told SCR News that there was quite a large disparity between the money that goes to different states to finance schooling.

He said he expected that a strategic planning workshop taking place in Juba would help the government to redress the situation so that every child in South Sudan had the same chance to go to school.

Mr. Buckland said the disparity is due to history and employment policies at states level.

He added that in the ten states Central Equatoria receives the highest amount of money while Jonglei gets the smallest.

Mr. Buckland made these statements during a week-long workshop for strategic planning for education in South Sudan organized by GoSS ministry of Education with the assistance of UNESCO.
